On May 8th, 2019, I had a session with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Data Science and Analytics students. They requested for me to share some insights related to Data Processing. As I am a fintech specialist, I decided to share with them my thoughts on “Data Processing in Banking and Finance – Issues, Challenges and Resolutions”.
I started off with general data flow architecture in Banking. Then I went into a bit more details on reporting and data analytics as the basic use of data in banking industry.
The discussion got more interesting when we discussed Enterprise Data Management in Intelligence. At the moment, data usage in financial services industry is still minimal. FIs have not been really leveraging on their data. At minimum, data could be used to help with more Automation, Decisioning and Recommendation.
At more advanced level, structured data can be combined with unstructured data and market data to form big data. With artificial intelligence on big data, FIs can achieve wonders.
I really enjoyed the academic environment with lecturers and students!
